David Newman, 71, Shoots His Own Age at the Chatata Valley Golf Club
Litchfield Park, AZ (PRWEB) May 24, 2014 -- Bird Golf student David Newman recently shot his own age—an extremely difficult feat which requires a golfer to score a number lower or equal to his or her age. Most golfers will never be able to make the same claim, as most golfers’ average personal best is well above their life expectancy. In order to become an age-shooter, a golfer must have plenty of experience, excellent coaching, mental acuity, and health even at an advanced age. For David Newman, aged 71, he had the uncommon combination of all of these things when he played on the par-72 course at Chatata Valley Golf Club in Cleveland, TN.
Newman scored 4 birdies and 3 bogies in his round of 1-under par, 71. Newman has been coached closely by Bird Golf Academy instructors, who have focused on his short game and wedges which were vital to achieving his major milestone. “I have been very successful in using the 3 different height shots with my 56 degree sand wedge. I was able to hit 12 greens in regulation but also got up and down on 3 of the other 6. The amazing thing was that it came so easy. I really want to thank the Bird Golf Academy for all they have taught me over the years. I prize this more than my holes in one and as you can tell I’m still on a high,” said Newman on his accomplishment.
