New York, New York (PRWEB) January 20, 2016 -- David Pascual and Faye Landes announce the launch of Back to the Future Ventures (BTTFV), a New York-based fund focused on investing in private small and mid-sized consumer brands, retailers and related technology companies with viable business concepts that need capital, operational knowledge and talent in order to reach the next level. Contrary to common wisdom, according to the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics, the level of entrepreneurship, the creation of new businesses and the share of young private companies aged five years or less as a share of U.S total firms have all consistently declined in the last 40 years, BTTFV believes that it can profitably leverage the funding and talent gaps in this crucial segment of the economy.
While creating consumer brands and retailers is easier than ever, ramping up and scaling continue to pose enormous challenges. The firm’s co-founders have highly complementary experience and skills. David Pascual is a widely recognized authority on omnichannel retailing, retail technology and consumer experience. He has hand-on experience in numerous startups, corporate spin-offs and JVs, public and private companies in various capacities, including CEO, CTO, CFO, Board Member, Advisor and Investor. He has been instrumental on both the finance and operational side in transactions ranging from $250,000 to $2 billion in value, with a total combined value of over $6 billion. Pascual has held senior roles at VeriSign, inCode (a Sequoia Capital portfolio company), Ericsson and most recently, at The Digital Marvels. David holds a M.S. in Telecommunications Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and is an alumnus of Harvard Business School. He has a passion for entrepreneurship, nonprofit, creativity thinking and innovation. He is an avid hiker and aspires to visit all US National Parks. David is from Brooklyn, NY and started coding when he was 9 years old. David brings a truly global perspective, having lived and worked overseas for many years.
Faye Landes worked in product management at major consumer packaged goods companies for five years, and then spent over twenty years as an equities analyst, focusing on retail and consumer, both on the sell-side and buy-side, at leading firms including Citigroup, Sanford C. Bernstein and Co. and Company and Ziff Brothers Investments. She has consistently been very early in anticipating sweeping consumer trends. For instance, in 2001, six years before the Kindle was introduced, she wrote a report on the future of e-books (“Curling Up with a Good PDA”), correctly predicting Amazon’s pricing strategy and dominance in the category. Faye has an A.B. from Princeton University and an M.B.A. from NYU’s Stern School of Business. She is obsessed with popular culture and has been an avid SoulCyclist since 2008.
