David R. DeGregory Pursues Dreams in New Novel
Shelby Township, Mich. (PRWEB) December 17, 2013 -- Author David R. DeGregory makes his debut into the literary world with the coming-of-age story about one man’s ultimate pursuit of his dreams in “The Gingerbread Man: A Story of Love, Friendship, and Football” (published by Lulu).
“My two daughters inspired me to write this book as they would sit on my lap and I would read them the children’s book ‘The Gingerbread Man,’” recalls DeGregory.
Sam Poma wants to play professional football more than anything in the world. From his hometown in Michigan, Sam practices hard on and off the field, bonding with fellow player Mike Lane. As the two dominate the field through middle school, high school and college, Sam believes that a contract with an NFL team is just around the corner.
Before Sam can graduate, disaster strikes, dashing his hopes and dreams of ever playing for the NFL. In his depression, Sam begins to drift apart from Mike, and he is too distraught to notice Mary Beth, a young woman who has been dreaming of a future with Sam. It will take hard work, dedication and a little bit of dreaming if Sam ever wants to pull himself out of his depression and live the life he’s always wanted.
DeGregory describes his novel as a “feel-good football story” and hopes to inspire readers to chase their dreams. He reminds his readers, “If you want something bad enough, with enough work and dedication, anything is possible.”
