Day Flier Member Hires New Director of Operations and Chief Pilot and Plans on Expanding Fleet
New Orleans, La. (PRWEB) February 17, 2016 -- One of Day Flier’s many member participating charter operators, Gulf Coast Aviation Charter in New Orleans, has hired Roger Davis as its new Chief Pilot and Director of Operations. Day Flier is also in the process of expanding its fleet and service area.
Before coming to Day Flier, Davis worked as the Director of Ops/Chief Pilot for Gulf Aviation, Inc. for two years. He also was an Air Ambulance Captain for AmericanMed Flight, Inc. In 1997, Davis received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
"We are thrilled that Roger Davis will able to enhance the capabilities of one of our participating operators," said David Cusimano, Day Flier's founder and general manager. "Roger has decades of experience and has flown numerous types of piston and turbo-prop aircraft throughout the United States. His expertise will help Day Flier further improve our ability save client's time and money."
In addition to this most recent hire, Day Flier is also in the process of expanding its fleet. The current fleet is made up of Circus SR22s, and in the coming months, Day Flier will acquire higher-capacity aircraft. Day Flier currently serves airports in and around New Orleans, Addison, Tulsa, New York City and Tampa Bay, but the private airplane charter company is also expanding its network of airports.
Day Flier's business model is a new take on air travel. Taking cues from algorithm-driven services like Uber, Day Flier uses data-driven research to calculate a business traveler's commute from door-to-door. This model results in cost savings for travelers and extends commercial travel to previously underserved airports by providing a cost-effect alternative.
For example, driving round trip from New Orleans to Shreveport requires about 10 hours. Chartering a small private jet costs more than $5,000, excluding potential fuel surcharges and airport fees. A flight in one of the aircraft in Day Flier's aircraft is much cheaper. For example, to fly in Gulf Coast Aviation Charter’s Cirrus SR22 costs about $500 an hour for a 270-mile one-way flight at a cruising speed of 210 miles an hour. This new approach to air charter services minimizes travel time and expenses for business trips.
