Deadbolt Forensics Comments on Growth of Digital Forensics Industry

According to a recent report from the Marietta Daily Journal, Middle Georgia State College recently opened a digital forensics lab on campus as part of its plan to launch a concentration in digital forensics for students who are interested in a career in recovering and analyzing electronic data for law enforcement, corporate investigations or court cases.
According to the report, the new lab is funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation, and will be equipped with powerful computers loaded with the same software used by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).
“More and more programs like this are being instituted around the country every day,” said Michael Yasumoto, Senior Forensic Analyst at Deadbolt Forensics. “The increasing prevalence of these kinds of degree programs just speaks to how much of an in-demand field Digital Forensics has become in the last few years. The article also points to surging interest in digital forensics from the private sector as a factor in the field’s rapid growth over the last few years.
“Experts in the field are also increasingly in demand from companies in the private sector seeking to conduct internal investigations,” said Yasumoto. “Those opportunities simply didn’t exist a decade ago, and today they can be extremely lucrative. Simply put, it is a great time to be a young person who is considering starting a career as a digital forensic analyst.”
