Debbie Juhlke Installed as President of Civitan International
Austin, TX (PRWEB) August 05, 2015 -- Debbie Juhlke works as Human Resources Director for Exfluor Research Corp. In her spare time, however, she works to serve a much larger group of people. She was recently installed as the President of Civitan International, a nonprofit service organization with members in more than 40 countries.
Juhlke has been a member of Civitan since 1980. She is a charter member of the Heart of the Rock Civitan Club, based in Round Rock, TX. The club carries out volunteer service projects throughout the year, with a special emphasis on helping people with developmental disabilities. She was installed as International President at Civitan's annual convention last week. She will also be the first person of color to serve in the organization's top office. Her one-year term begins on October 1st.
"It is truly an honor to serve Civitan, one of the most influential service organizations of our time," Juhlke says. "I rejoice in being the very first person of color to hold this office, as well. This is an opportunity for us as Civitans to reflect the diverse communities we serve. I am proud to serve as our 95th International President, and be part of the key to a better world!"
Juhlke's husband Timothy is also a Civitan member. All three of her children have been part of Junior Civitan, the organization's youth branch, and are also charter members of the Heart of the Rock Civitan Club.
Civitan is a nonprofit organization with clubs across more than 40 countries, with a special focus on helping people with developmental disabilities. Members also raise funds for the Civitan International Research Center, a medical research facility in Birmingham, AL dedicated to better understanding, diagnosis, and treatment for neurological disorders.
