Decatur’s Green Ginger Supports Students
Decatur, GA (PRWEB) June 27, 2015 -- Kam C. Ngai, the owner of the Green Ginger restaurant in Decatur, which serves a wide variety of Asian cuisine, works with a program called the Black College Tour, which is a program for students visiting local colleges in and near Decatur, Georgia. In addition to feeding her customers, Kam feeds students for free every year, during this tour. She opens the restaurant just for these students, as a way to welcome those who are in town visiting local colleges.
Since 1988, the Black College Tour has taken hundreds of students from the New york City Metropolitan area to visit sixteen historically black colleges and universities in North Carolina, Virginia, Washington D.C., Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania. 85% of the students who participate in the program go on to college. Applications are now being accepted for 2016 at xiphichapter.com.
“This was the third year in which Green Ginger hosted the event,” said Kam, “and we hope to continue this tradition for many years to come. It is an honor to feed these future scholars the brain food they need.”
Green Ginger serves the finest Asian fusion in town. The restaurant opened in 2011 and features everything from Chinese cuisine to sushi, and has a full-service bar. “Our goal is to give our customers the most pleasant and tasteful experience from the moment they come in to the moment they step out,” said Kam. “We aim to continue serving the highest-quality and best-tasting foods we can.”
