December 3: Your Challenge to Help Kids With Life-Threatening Illnesses
Kissimmee, FL (PRWEB) November 27, 2013 -- The holiday season is quickly approaching, filled with the hustle and bustle of shopping, cooking and making wish lists. At a time when consumers are bombarded with materialism, it is easy to lose sight of what’s important, caring for others. While the days immediately after Thanksgiving have become known as Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Give Kids The World (GKTW) is focusing our efforts to redirect attention to a more meaningful cause -- bringing smiles to the faces of children with life-threatening illnesses.
On Tuesday, December 3, GKTW will be participating for the second year in a national year-end philanthropic campaign, using the theme “#GivingTuesday Challenge” to encourage people to help children in need during the season of giving thanks.
Throughout the day of the event, volunteers and supporters will participate in “Village Challenges” such as making the tallest ice cream cone for a wish child or attempting to fit 20 individuals inside Mayor Clayton’s miniature cottage. Through these fun and playful endeavors, GKTW hopes to raise awareness and support for the Village where happiness inspires hope.
“Our #GivingTuesday Challenge campaign will feature some fun and inspirational ways that Give Kids The World staff, volunteers and other friends will respond as various giving levels are met,” Pamela Landwirth, GKTW’s president said. “The real challenge is that #GivingTuesday is only 24 hours long and we want to include as many participants, supporters and contributors as possible in the effort to help kids with life-threatening illnesses. It doesn’t take a large donation to make a big impact on the lives of these precious children and we welcome every effort.”
A gift of just $10 during the Give Kids The World #GivingTuesday Challenge can help provide food for one child for a day during a weeklong stay at GKTW’s Kissimmee, Florida Village.
