DeCrescente Distributing Company Receives Community Care Impact Award from United Way of the Greater Capital Region
Mechanicville, NY (PRWEB) April 22, 2014 -- The United Way of the Greater Capital Region has awarded DeCrescente Distributing Company the Community Care Impact Award. This award is given annually to the organization that has contributed most significantly to United Way's Community Care Fund.

The Community Care Fund is a pool of donor dollars that United Way invests in a network of top-performing local human service programs. These programs are selected strategically based on their ability to achieve measurable impact, which includes changing lives and improving the communities we live in.

Last year, contributions to the Community Care Fund totaled $1.75 million and were invested in 96 programs at 56 local agencies. These agencies are hand selected by trained volunteers who represent a cross section of the community and who have a vested interest in making the community better for all.
More specifically, programs are chosen based on how effectively they address priority issues in the areas of basic needs, education, income, and health. Research and experience show that these four areas are the building blocks for a good life and a strong community.
