Defense Mobile's miliSOURCE Becomes Leading Veterans' Benefits Mobile App
Stamford, CT (PRWEB) April 30, 2015 -- Defense Mobile, the nation’s first 4G LTE wireless company built exclusively for Veterans, military service members and their families, announced today that the miliSOURCE mobile app is now the leading mobile app for U.S. Veterans’ benefits. miliSOURCE recently ranked in the Top 25 apps within the Reference category in the Apple App Store as reported by Distimo, a major application store analytics company.
“According to the Veterans Administration only 39% of Veterans are collecting benefits. We wanted to build an app that helps the 61% of Veterans who are not leveraging the benefits they earned,” said Ward Bond, U.S Army Veteran and Head of Value Added Services at Defense Mobile.
”For miliSOURCE, we developed a proprietary database of 900 Veterans’ benefits from the VA, state benefits agencies and private Veterans Service Organizations (VSOs). The app uses an advanced eligibility algorithm to select the eligible benefits for each Veteran based on their user profile,” added Bond.
Besides discovering eligible benefits, the initial version of the miliSOURCE app also includes a variety of benefits tools and resources to assist Veterans. The app includes the full VA Benefits Book and access to Military.com’s benefits articles. A Post-9/11 GI Bill Comparator calculator enables Veterans to determine the amount of compensation they are eligible to receive at various schools and vocational training programs. The Veteran’s Facilities tool helps users find facilities for the VA, USO, VFW and American Legion and get turn-by-turn navigation instructions. The State Benefits Lookup tool allows Veterans to quickly view all the benefits available in any state. This is helpful when considering a move or if a Veteran lives in more than one state. The Call Support screen makes it easy for Veterans to place a call to the VA, a local VFW service officer or their state’s Veterans department. Additional features will arrive later in 2015.
“Given our mission to connect and improve the lives of those who have served, we felt we could positively impact the most Veterans if we expanded the access to the miliSOURCE app to all U.S. Veterans, regardless of whether they are current Defense Mobile wireless customers or not,” stated co-founder Andrew Reilly.
Now all Veterans are eligible to download the free miliSOURCE Veterans’ Benefits app for their iPhone, iPad or Android smartphone or tablet from the Apple App Store or Google Play App Store. Veterans must also register for a free miliSOURCE account at http://www.defensemobile.com/milisource before they can start using the mobile app.
“Veterans frequently rely on VSOs and other private organizations to help them access the benefits and support they’ve earned. Defense Mobile simplifies this process by offering Veterans miliSOURCE, their own digital benefits assistant to help get them started,” said Vince McBeth, U.S. Navy Veteran and former Special Assistant to the Secretary of Veterans Affairs.
