Delaware State Bar Association Opens Legal Research Library Through Partnership with Fastcase
WILMINGTON, DE and WASHINGTON, DC (PRWEB) July 06, 2017 -- The Delaware State Bar Association and Fastcase today announced the Delaware State Bar Association (DSBA) will be providing its members free access to Fastcase’s nationwide legal research system.
Beginning July 6, 2017, members of the DSBA, which includes attorneys, judges, law students, professors and other legal practitioners, will receive passwords to one of the largest law libraries in the world. The member benefit is unlimited — with no restrictions on time or number of transactions, unlimited printing, and unlimited reference assistance included at no additional charge.
For nearly a century, the DSBA has served members of the legal community and the public. The voluntary bar association is expanding its offerings and member benefits by providing members with complimentary access to legal research tools and online legal libraries. DSBA members will get access to Fastcase’s Premium subscription, which includes a nationwide library of caselaw from all state and federal courts, statutes and regulations from all 50 states and the federal government, and will include access to Delaware Worker’s Compensation materials as a new library on behalf of the Delaware Bar Association. The subscription is a comprehensive nationwide law library available online anytime, anywhere.
The member benefit provides for complimentary access to Fastcase’s intuitive and smarter legal research tools, training webinars and tutorials, industry-leading mobile apps, and live customer support from reference attorneys on the Fastcase team. Members will be able to access Fastcase through the bar’s website at http://www.dsba.org where they can log in with their bar username and password.
The Fastcase service ordinarily costs $995 per year for an individual subscriber, but DSBA members now have access to Fastcase as a complimentary member benefit. The Fastcase service is provided at no charge to members, but it is not a discount legal research service. Fastcase has pioneered the smartest legal research tools in the market, with integrated citation analysis tools, data visualization maps of search results, and the first legal research apps for iPhone, iPad and Android devices. The service also includes Bad Law Bot, the first big data service to identify negative citations to judicial opinions.
“This partnership allows us to provide free access to legal research for our members and support them with unrestricted access the tools and law libraries used on a regular basis in the legal profession,” said Mark Vavala, Executive Director of the Delaware State Bar Association. “This is the first time the DSBA has offered access to legal research and online law libraries as a member benefit and we’re proud to partner with Fastcase to provide our members with free access to this highly acclaimed research service.”
Headquartered in Washington, D.C., Fastcase is the nation’s fastest-growing and most popular legal research service. Many of the nation’s largest law firms and 29 state bar associations have subscribed to Fastcase. More than 800,000 lawyers currently have a subscription to Fastcase, many through their state bar and local associations. A 2016 Clio survey with more than 2,100 respondents showed that Fastcase was in a virtual dead heat with Westlaw and LexisNexis as the most popular legal research service among its users.
“We started Fastcase to democratize the law,” said Fastcase co-founder Phil Rosenthal. “Working with the Delaware State Bar Association, we’re making sure that its members and all of their clients always know the law. It improves access to justice, and helps lawyers practice at the top of their degree.”
