Delco Foods Announces Plan to Build Compressed Natural Gas Refueling Station and Convert Delivery Fleet to the Cleaner Fuel Alternative
Indianapolis, Indiana (PRWEB) September 11, 2014 -- Delco Foods, a family-owned Italian and specialty foods distributor supplying businesses throughout the Midwest, announced today its plan to open a compressed natural gas (CNG) refueling station. Delco, who has partnered with U.S. Oil’s GAIN® Clean Fuel unit, will build the facility to be conveniently located near their distribution center in Indianapolis. Delco will break ground on the fast-fill refueling station on October 1st, with plans to start converting their delivery fleet to run on CNG in early fall 2014.
“With CNG technology evolving and continually improving, we knew it was the right time to make the change,” says Delco’s Vice President of Operations, Bill Dollard. “As our delivery trucks convert over, we plan to stay on the cutting edge of CNG technology.”
Delco began researching CNG as a cleaner fuel option two years ago as part of their green initiative. By converting their fleet of nearly 20 vehicles to a better fuel alternative, Delco will not only reduce their carbon footprint, but will also switch to a fuel that is abundant and readily available domestically. On average, Delco’s trucks make 1,200 deliveries each week.

Penske, who provides full-service truck leases to Delco, has also committed to converting their maintenance shop to a CNG capable facility so that they are able to partner with Delco on the project.
The station is expected to be completed in December 2014 and will be open for use by other carriers and the general public. It will be located at 8775 Zionsville Road on the northwest of Indianapolis, just inside the I-465 loop.
