Delight In Holiday Traditions In Franklin County, VA

Franklin County, Va. (PRWEB) November 27, 2013 -- ‘Tis the season for holly, jolly fun at the 10th Annual Come Home to a Franklin County Christmas event, Friday, Dec. 6 at 5 p.m. in downtown Rocky Mount.

The event opens with the "Biggest Little Parade" in Franklin County, just as the streets are closed for the much-anticipated festival. The event also features horse and buggy rides, music, dancing, an array of food and craft vendors, and more.

"Each year our community comes together in support of this amazing holiday celebration," said Carolyn Johnson, president of the Community Partnership for Revitalization, which organizes the event along with Franklin County Parks and Recreation. "Not only is it a great way to spend time with family, but also an opportunity to explore downtown Rocky Mount and shop at local merchants."

New this year and headlining the list of performers, the Harvester Performance Center will present The Corey Hunley Band and Ashley Forrest on stage at the Farmers’ Market. Other musical performances include the Ferrum College Collegiates, the Benjamin Franklin Middle School Marching Band, The Singing Panthers, and "Jamin’ Along the Crooked Road with Aspen Black" on stage at The Franklin Center.

Also new to this year’s festivities will be a Barn Quilt Trail of Franklin County exhibit, a weaving demonstration at The Crooked Stitch, a wreath making class at the Franklin County Public Library and children’s Christmas ornament making at the Tortoiseshell Tabby.

In addition, Come Home to a Franklin County Christmas will feature dancers from the Blue Ridge Performing Arts Academy, a hot glass, wood burning demonstration at The Grainery, a Quilt Trail of Franklin County exhibit and an opportunity for patrons of all ages to visit with Santa.
