Delta Dental Announces Plan to Build on Quarter Million Lives in State Health Exchanges
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) November 20, 2014 -- Delta Dental of California and its affiliates today announced their recommitment to participate in 16 health care exchanges to provide children and families easier access to much-needed dental benefits.
“Consumers deserve choices and access to affordable dental coverage,” explained Gary D. Radine, president and CEO of Delta Dental of California and its affiliated companies. “Stand-alone dental plans in particular offer special value on health exchanges, with generally lower deductibles up front and a much lower annual out-of-pocket maximum for children than the dental plans that can come all wrapped up in a health plan.”
Radine said his group of companies – which collectively serves more enrollees in public health exchanges across the country than any other dental insurer – was looking to build upon last year’s strong exchange enrollment results. In 2014, more than a quarter million Americans, both children and adults, purchased either DeltaCare® USA, a prepaid/dental HMO program, or Delta Dental PPO℠, which allows enrollees to get covered services both in and out of network.
Delta Dental of California and its affiliated companies again are offering consumers, dentists and employer groups access to an online Health Care Reform Resource Center to help navigate the exchange marketplace for dental coverage and learn about the ins and outs of plans being offered, such as what a fee-for-service plan like a preferred provider organization (PPO) entails, or a prepaid plan where enrollees visit one assigned network dentist for all their dental care needs called a dental health maintenance organization (DHMO).
The group of companies, which includes Delta Dental of California, Delta Dental Insurance Company, Delta Dental of New York, Inc. and Delta Dental of Pennsylvania, offer between them 16 stand-alone PPO dental plans in the District of Columbia plus Alabama, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Montana, Nevada, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas (as a DPO plan), Utah and West Virginia. DeltaCare USA is a prepaid/DHMO dental plan available in California, Florida, Maryland, Nevada, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas and Utah, as well as D.C.*(Offerings are subject to change; purchasers should visit the appropriate exchange for their state for the most up-to-date information.)

Delta Dental of California, Delta Dental of New York, Inc., Delta Dental of Pennsylvania and Delta Dental Insurance Company, along with their affiliated companies, together provide dental benefits to 30 million people. All are part of the Delta Dental Plans Association, whose member companies collectively cover more than 60 million people nationwide.
