Denise E. Mitchell Named Executive Director of Washington, D.C. Chapter of NECA
ANNANDALE, Va. (PRWEB) November 24, 2017 -- Denise E. Mitchell has been named Executive Director of the Washington, D.C. Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). She replaces retiring executive director, Andrew Porter, who will stay on until the end of the year.
Mitchell has extensive experience both in the labor sector as well as the association world. She served as executive director of the Howard University Medical Alumni Association, labor relations and compliance programs manager with DC Water and senior labor relations officer at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA).
In her new role as executive director, Mitchell will serve as spokesperson for the electrical contracting industry in the Washington, D.C. area. Through her leadership, she will strive to improve communications within the trade and also build relationships with NECA members and leadership of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 26. Mitchell will also serve as an advisor to the trustees of The Electrical Alliance, the Labor Management Cooperative Committee (LMCC) between NECA’s D.C. Chapter and IBEW Local 26.

Mitchell earned her law degree in Employment and Labor Law from Howard University School of Law and undergraduate degree in Education and Industrial Psychology from the State University of New York–New Paltz. She is a certified Human Resources Professional, a designation of SPHR from the Society of Human Resources Management; a Certified Public Manager through the Metropolitan Council of Governments Executive Leadership Program at George Washington University and a certified EEO investigator.
