Dentist, Tariq Drabu Warns That Middle-aged Men Are at Risk of Gum-disease

Tariq Drabu, leading dentist and teacher of dental medicine, went on to say, “Middle-aged men who have a sedentary lifestyle and do not engage in regular exercise could be at increased risk of developing gum disease, the research says. Researchers from The Hanover Medical School, Germany, analyzed information from a sample of 72 men who did not engage in sport or have an active lifestyle. The results indicated that they were at much higher risk of developing gum disease, and other oral health issues, than their younger more active counterparts.”
Tariq Drabu, renowned dentist, went on to say, “We already understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle, a balanced diet, and regular exercise. This combination can improve health and prevent the development of serious illnesses like, heart disease, diabetes, and many cancers. Understanding the effects of lifestyle on our oral health is equally important so I welcome this latest research.”
Dentist Tariq Drabu continued by saying, “The report revealed that men with a low BMI and a healthy lifestyle had a 40% lower risk of developing gum disease. This is a significant drop in risk. It is clear that work is required to ensure men in their middle age are informed of the risks to their health if they are not active or living a healthy lifestyle. I will be sharing this news with patients as appropriate. I believe we need to inform the general public about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. Regular exercise, a good diet, and an active life will keep our bodies strong and healthy, and this includes oral health. Just by eating healthily, maintaining good oral health, and by attending the dentist regularly for check-ups, patients can dramatically reduce their risks of developing serious oral problems like tooth decay, tooth loss, gum disease or mouth cancers.”
