Denver-based Ecocentric Brands Launches Global On-line “Awearness” Campaign via Indiegogo
Denver, CO (PRWEB) October 23, 2013 -- Denver-based Ecocentric Brands is launching a 60-day global “Awearness” campaign featuring its eco-friendly, performance fashion line of apparel and accessories on Indiegogo, a global, premier online crowd sourcing business platform. The collection of tees and hoodies are made from post consumer recycled plastic soda bottles, post industrial recycled cotton, ketchup containers, X-ray film and black food trays that were once destined for the landfill.
"By launching on Indiegogo, every t-shirt that is purchased will help keep approximately (6.5) 20-ounce plastic bottles from going into another landfill in this country. And that adds up rather quickly.” Jerry Wheeler, founder of Ecocentric Brands explains, “In fact, 50-million plastic water bottles go into landfills each day in America. That’s a lot of excess waste and that’s why we are partnering with Indiegogo – to share our story locally and internationally.”
Committed to saving as much water and energy as possible, Ecocentric’s mission extends beyond basic sustainability practices and makes products that are appealing to main-stream America, as the apparel is made from products people use everyday.
“Usually people don’t want to spill ketchup on their clothes. So by using the Earthspun® apparel process, we can take that used ketchup bottle and make it into a fashion forward, comfortably soft t-shirt. It’s a simple principle designed to help shift the way the consumer thinks,” notes Will Glennie, COO. “Consumers today are smart, savvy and are becoming more aware about the effects of over-consumption on this planet and we are a proud to be a part of that shift.”
Funds raised with Indiegogo will facilitate Ecocentric’s plans for consumers to learn more about sustainable business, so they feel confident about their purchases. Ecocentric directly involves customers in the design, manufacturing and promotion of its eco-friendly garments and supports the Textile Exchange, a non-profit organization dedicated to creating meaningful change within the textile industry. Ecocentric, a triple bottom line company is proud to partner with the Textile Exchange and will donate a portion (3%) of proceeds from the “Awearness”campaign to the organization.
