Designatronics Connects with Universities by Opening it's Doors to Students of Engineering and Manufacturing

A new initiative has been put into action where students can observe the day to day practices that are keeping manufacturing alive and well in America, through touring Designatronics facility and interacting with Designatronics engineering staff.
Designatronics continually engages with students through a number of programs; sponsorship of the Cooper Union Motorsports formula SAE team; attending local Engineering Career Days – a LIFT sponsored event. Designatronics opened its doors to SUNY Farmingdale students studying the Infor VISUAL manufacturing-centric ERP software, which Designatronics implemented earlier this year.
Recently, twenty-six students, representing a variety of engineering majors from Hofstra University visited Designatronics manufacturing facility. Designatronics Director of Human Resources, Joanne Iannacone, reached out to Hofstra's, Engineering Director, Dr. Mauro J. Caputi and arranged an interactive, private tour of their manufacturing facility.
The students were introduced to a variety of areas including, New Product Introduction, where products are developed, designed and put through a stage-gate review process. The students were also exposed to state-of-the-art CAD software and an ISO 7 Class 10,000 clean room assembly area.
The students then toured Designatronics extensive CNC manufacturing plant. Dr. Caputi explained, “The best part for the Freshmen was the hands-on part of the tour, because at this level that's what they want to understand and get energized about, stuff they can see, feel, and touch.”
The last area of the tour was Application Engineering, where the students learned how application engineers provide customers with solutions to their engineering problems using Designatronics standard and custom components. The students then departed with catalogs, product samples and promotional items.
