Destination Imagination Receives Project Management Institute Educational Foundation Grant
Cherry Hill, N.J. (PRWEB) October 24, 2016 -- Destination Imagination (DI), a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching students the creative process through hands-on science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) and social entrepreneurship challenges, today announced it has received a grant for $47,000 from the Project Management Institute Educational Foundation (PMIEF). Through the grant, Destination Imagination will enhance project management initiatives for more than 150,000 students worldwide.
“Destination Imagination and PMIEF recognize the crucial need to teach project management skills to students so that they will thrive in an emerging and competitive workforce,” said Dr. Chuck Cadle, CEO of Destination Imagination. “To manage successful projects, students need guidance on how to initiate, plan, execute, lead and close a project. With the help of the PMIEF’s support, DI will continue to teach these skills to thousands of students across the globe to prepare them for success in our future workforce.”
A $99,912 grant from PMIEF in 2014 integrated project management into DI’s Roadmap resource, which guides DI teams’ and team managers’ participation in DI challenges. That grant supported DI to develop a crosswalk between its creative process and the project management process groups to help students strengthen their ability to plan, execute and track their work. The current grant will examine how students applied their project management knowledge to DI’s 2015-16 challenges as well as assess their depth and retention of project management knowledge.
