Detroit Car Accident Lawyer Weighs In On Ford, Chrysler Recalls
Detroit, MI (PRWEB) July 11, 2013 -- After receiving countless complaints from car accident victims and facing concerns of vehicle owners nationwide, Chrysler and Ford both recently announced recalls on cars and SUVs revealed to have dangerous design defects, according to a June 27 article published in the Detroit Free Press titled “Vehicles to be recalled or fixed in jeep case.”
Detroit personal injury lawyer Gary Bloom said today this is an important step for the manufacturers to take in light of recent safety concerns around millions of cars and SUVs that populate the streets on a daily basis.
According to the Detroit Free Press story, Chrysler has agreed to recall over 1.5 million Jeep Libertys manufactured between 2001-2007 and Grand Cherokees built between 1993-1998 due to fire safety concerns.
“It’s important to get dangerous vehicles off our streets in Detroit and across the country. Manufacturers are responsible for addressing design flaws in their vehicles,” said Bloom, who represents people seriously injured in car accidents and due to other types of negligence.
The article states that numerous deadly rear-end car accidents were reported where the SUVs would suddenly burst into flames. A design defect was uncovered that showed that the vehicles were manufactured in such a way that the fuel tank could easily be punctured in the event of a crash, according to the Free Press.
Chrysler will voluntarily install, inspect, or replace the faulty trailer hitches on all the vehicles in question, according to the story.
In addition, a June 28 article in the Detroit Free Press titled “Ford recalls Explorer, Taurus, MKS to fix locks,” Ford issued their own recall for more than 13,000 of their cars and SUVs manufactured between November and December of last year.
The article states that the vehicles – Ford and Lincoln sedans and SUVs – were manufactured with faulty child safety locks that could be turned off when the doors are opened or closed.
While no injuries have been reported, according to the story, Ford acknowledged that the possibility exists that a child could open a door while the car is moving, leading to a potentially serious injury or even death.
A Detroit personal injury attorney might be able to help you if you’ve been injured as a result of defective car parts, said Bloom.
“All too often, manufacturer defects aren’t discovered and recalls aren’t issued until somebody has already suffered serious personal injuries in a car accident involving these defective car parts,” Bloom said. “If this is the case, the situation may call for a lawsuit against a negligent party. An aggressive and determined Detroit personal injury lawyer understands that defective car parts present a serious safety risk and isn’t afraid to take on big auto manufacturers if they’ve failed to produce a safe product.”
