Detroit's Bigalora Wood Fired Cucina Goes Red This June
Detroit, MI (PRWEB) May 30, 2014 -- Bigalora Wood Fired Cucina (http://bigalora.com/), a causal Italian dining concept with three locations in southeast Michigan, is joining renowned chef Mario Batali in a nationwide fundraising effort to fight AIDS.
The EAT (RED). DRINK (RED). SAVE LIVES campaign involves hundreds of restaurants, bars, and food trucks around the United States. Each participating business will donate proceeds from a dedicated “red” themed food and beverage menu to the Global Fund to fight AIDS. The Bigalora menu will direct diners to red-themed pastas, pizzas, and gelatos that will contribute to the effort.
Bigalora founder and chef Luciano Del Signore will select menu items at all three Bigalora locations: Southfield, Royal Oak, and the new Ann Arbor store. “I think it’s important to help raise awareness in our community that AIDS and HIV are still a very real threat to many, many people,” Del Signore said. “I join my good friend Mario Batali in this fight.”
Adds Michael Chetcuti, business partner to the chef in all three Bigalora locations: “AIDS is no longer on the front pages as much, but that doesn’t mean it is not still destroying lives in metro Detroit, across the country, and beyond. The fight against AIDS must continue and we urge our customers to come to the restaurants and support this cause.”
The RED campaign takes place this June 1-10 and is being promoted through social media as #86AIDS. In restaurant terminology, “86” means that a menu item is no longer available.
“It’s a great time for everyone to help eradicate HIV in our lifetime,” said chef Batali. “Join me and support your favorite local restaurant’s efforts to provide extremely effective medication by eating and drinking RED June 1st to the 10th.” To hear Mario Batali’s video appeal and for more information, please visit the campaign’s website at http://www.eatdrinkred.org.
