Developer Mentorship Marketplace Codementor Raises $1.6m and Launches Freelance Developer Platform
Palo Alto, CA (PRWEB) December 13, 2016 -- Codementor, a leading marketplace for on-demand live help from expert developers, announced $1.6 million raised in funding to be used for the launch of a new freelance developer platform, CodementorX. CodementorX enables companies to hire the top web and mobile developers on Codementor for freelance projects.
This new round of funding was led by WI Harper. The company had also raised $1.2 million earlier from Techstars, 500 Startups, and other angel investors since its launch in 2014.
“Many companies already rely on Codementor’s network of 5000+ vetted expert developers for on-demand live mentorship,” said Weiting Liu, Founder and CEO of Codementor. “With CodementorX, we’re now making it more convenient for companies looking for top engineering talent to hire pre-qualified developers on demand,” added Liu.
CodementorX allows entrepreneurs, startups, and businesses to hire the top 2% of developers on Codementor. Unlike traditional freelance platforms, CodementorX is an invite-only network of senior engineers at Silicon Valley companies, startup CTOs from top accelerators, top Stack Overflow contributors, and experienced freelancers. The platform features a rigorous and comprehensive vetting process, with many developers who have a proven track record as top performing mentors on Codementor.
While many freelancing platforms typically do not offer project management assistance, CodementorX offers a flexible project management system that allows clients to work alongside a dedicated project manager and the CodementorX developer. Furthermore, the platform offers a risk-free trial period to ensure that clients hire the most ideal developer for their project.
During CodementorX’s private alpha phase, it has already helped clients build several projects, including a patient management system for a major vision correction chain, a Bitcoin platform for educational charity, an event management system for Boy Scouts, and a Gurbani search engine. Clients included several Techstars and venture-backed startups that have previously struggled with finding talented developers that meet the requirements of their project and want a faster way to hire great developers.
“The rise of software and the gig economy is changing the way we work in every industry,” said Edward Liu, Partner of WI Harper. “We are excited about Codementor’s potential with its new on-demand software developer platform to help businesses scale.”
Codementor has grown over the past two years to become a vibrant community of 150,000 developers with over 5,000 vetted expert developers. Despite the growing number of developers worldwide, many companies and startups still face a shortage of qualified software developers for their team or project, and CodementorX aims to fulfill that demand.
