Developer Vaughn Irons Passes Independent Polygraph Test
Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) April 23, 2015 -- Atlanta based Developer Vaughn Irons has passed an independent polygraph test (see attachment), clarifying that he has not been dishonest regarding DeKalb County Ethics Board Advisory Opinion Number 15 (The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, February 26, 2015; http://www.myajc.com/news/news/local-govt-politics/fishy-document-let-dekalb-official-bid-on-county-c/nkKMY/). The polygraph test was conducted on Thursday, April 9, 2015, by the nationally accredited, Lancaster Information Services in Lawrenceville, GA.
According to Polygraph examiner Gary Lancaster, “It is my opinion that there were no deceptive responses to the relevant questions.”
The lie detector test was meant to determine if Vaughn Irons had anything to do with writing, forging signatures or being involved in any way with the publication of the advisory opinion that he requested in 2009 from the DeKalb County Ethics Board to prove that there was no conflict of interest in doing business with DeKalb County.
“It’s unfortunate that bureaucratic inefficiency has created this situation. I’m glad that anyone who questioned my character now knows the truth.” APD Solutions CEO Vaughn Irons reflected. Irons continued, “As I have always maintained, I have done nothing wrong and at all times I have acted within the rules and regulations as it relates to my business and personal activities with the County.”
The polygraph test verifies the stance of former Ethics Board Chairman Bryan Smith in statements he made on February 24, 2015. During a phone interview, Smith, who was chairman of the Ethics Board at the time of the opinion, told Former FOX 5 News Anchor Art Franklin that he didn’t think Vaughn Irons had any motivation to do anything wrong.
Smith asked the following question about Irons. “Why would he have to try to add something else to it or do something wrong.” Smith also stated, “Our legal counsel was suggesting that it would not have been a conflict based on previous cases that we had just settled.”
The DeKalb County Purchasing and Procurement Department records show that the Ethics Advisory Opinion Number 15 was delivered to the purchasing department on December 16, 2011. No one has claimed responsibility for delivering the opinion to the purchasing department. The DeKalb County Ethics Board confirmed that it never provided Irons with a copy of the opinion.
“First and foremost, Irons has not and did not commit any ethical or legal violations,” said Attorney Dwight Thomas, legal counsel for Irons. “The advisory opinion that authorized APD Solutions is not a forgery and was in fact prepared by the DeKalb Ethics Board Attorney and signed by the chair of the Board of Ethics. There is no “stamped” signature. There is no altered or forged signature. There is no contrary advisory opinion that was ever communicated to Mr. Irons or APD Solutions or the DeKalb Purchasing Department.”
