Device for Recovering from Falls Invented by InventHelp® Client (CVL-188)
Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) January 27, 2015 -- If you or a loved one or friend has ever fallen and been unable to get up, you know what a frightening experience that can be. Well, thanks to an inventor from Chagrin Falls, Ohio, there is help now for such situations. "After losing my mother short of 95 years of age, I felt compelled to help all those who have fallen and were unable to get up by themselves for whatever reason," he said. "I have heard stories about people who have fallen and have laid there for hours and even days, some in their own waste until help arrived. I want those people to maintain their dignity and respect. I want them to know that someone cares."
The Missing Link provides an effective means of lifting someone who has fallen and cannot get up by themselves. It avoids injury to a caregiver who is often put in a disadvantaged position in trying to lift a disabled person from the floor. It also saves repairs costs if summoned professional help has to damage the residence to enter, and allows for greater length of independence.
It also improves quality of life for individuals with activity limitations and prevents further injuries to persons who've fallen due to unsuccessful attempts to get up on their own. It's safe for use on all types of flooring materials (as well as concrete, asphalt, stone, etc.), and it's ideally suited for use in a home due to its small dimensions.
"My mother and I were never told that she had bone cancer until an MRI she had revealed this problem in her final days," the inventor said. "So when she fell in our home, conventional methods of lifting her were point-specific and too painful. To distribute her body over a broader surface, I used my back for her to lie on and raised her to her feet."
