Dialogic’s Integrated Signaling Controller Helps IT&E Replace Its SS7 Network and Prepare for 4G Roaming
Parsippany, NJ (PRWEB) June 19, 2015 -- Dialogic, a global networking software and infrastructure solution provider, announced that IT&E has selected Dialogic’s BorderNet™ Diameter Services Helix to replace its legacy SS7 Signal Transfer Point (STP) infrastructure and prepare it to support 4G roaming on its LTE network. IT&E, the leading mobile operator in Guam, chose to deploy the BorderNet Helix to provide a common signaling policy platform for its existing 2G/3G and next generation 4G networks. IT&E selected Helix because it uniquely integrates STP gateway, Diameter Edge Agent (DEA) and Diameter Routing Agent (DRA) capabilities with unmatched ease-of-use on a single platform.
Helix will enable IT&E to replace its end-of-life legacy STP technology, connecting its Short Message Service Center (SMSC) platform, Mobile Switching Centers (MSCs) and Serving GPRS Support Nodes (SGSNs) to internal nodes and externally to its IPX partner’s STPs. Helix will also be used by IT&E to connect its 4G LTE network to other peering operators in support of 4G inbound roamers using the DEA and DRA features on the unified Helix solution.
“Our End-of-Life STP replacement strategy was to support legacy signaling while adding modern 4G data routing flexibility and improving our already-low cost structure”, said Russell Lundberg, Executive Director - Network at IT&E. “Dialogic’s Helix platform does that with minimal CAPEX, low ongoing OPEX and with the option of incremental capacity growth and capability upgrades. We get the functionality we need at a cost which preserves our margins.”
Helix uniquely combines advanced signaling message routing and gateway STP functionality on the same platform with a next generation Diameter Signaling Controller (DSC) that is unparalleled in the industry. Helix DSC capabilities provide multiprotocol interworking functionality (IWF), DEA, and DRA features with support for any Diameter interface. Its GUI-based signaling manipulation and enhancement capabilities maximize ease-of-use and enable service providers to perform many of the tasks of mediating and translating Diameter, RADIUS and SS7 messages themselves, thereby avoiding vendor lock-in, costly third party development, and reducing the time needed to bring networks and services to market.
“We see IT&E really taking advantage of the extensive signaling, routing, and interworking capabilities of Helix to help reduce costs in its legacy network and monetize its investment in LTE,” said Jim Machi, senior vice president of marketing and product management at Dialogic, “Now it has a platform that can give its operations team complete flexibility in managing its complex signaling environment and accommodate new services when they are ready, such as Wi-Fi and VoLTE roaming.”
