Diamonds Direct Sponsors Charity Golf Tournament and Gala on June 8
Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) June 12, 2015 -- Diamonds Direct, a jeweler and appraisal service from Minneapolis, MN, was a Silver Sponsor for the 12th Annual Charity Golf Tournament Benefiting Lead the Way, a Chad Greenway Foundation, on June 8, 2015. The event was hosted at the Mendakota Country Club in Minneapolis.
Kristina Mahler, a partner with Diamonds Direct, said that her company has participated in the golf tournament for the past 12 years since it began.
"We try to pour ourselves into a few main local charities that are important to us," said Mahler, who has taken part in a number of charitable events through Diamonds Direct. "Many of the charities we give back to are for families and children."
Mahler said that she and other Diamonds Direct staff members were thrilled to participate in the event and give back to the community.
The golf tournament is presented by the Bohannon Group Foundation, run by Tim Bohannon and his wife, Joey. The organization was founded in 2008 to help chronically ill and disabled children, and it has raised funds to help children's charities by participating in local events.
Chad Greenway's Lead the Way Foundation also began in 2008 to help families in need, especially those with seriously ill and physically challenged children in the Twin Cities.
Mahler said she was happy to take part in the event and giving back to these groups.
"We look forward to participating in this event every year," Mahler said of herself and the Diamonds Direct staff. "We enjoy seeing new and familiar faces out on the golf course and we love being able to use our talents to help raise money for such an awesome cause."
Diamonds Direct handed out cigars and raffle tickets for a custom engraved money clip at the fourth hole on the golf course. Each year the company donates a different item and hands out cigars, and this year they were able to raise $500.
Mahler mentioned that Diamonds Direct also donated a diamond pendant as a prize for the golf tournament's gala. Those who attended the gala could purchase a jewelry box for $50; during the dinner, those who bought the jewelry boxes were told to open them, and one lucky winner received the surprise diamond pendant.
The event was also the perfect place to highlight one of Diamonds Direct's specialties: ring design. Couples and individuals often turn to the company when they're comparing engagement rings, so a custom designed ring from Diamonds Direct was the perfect fit for the golf tournament's live auction.
Mahler designed the ring herself, and she said the evening saw a "hot bidding war" over the custom jewelry piece. The ring ended up fetching $3,400, which went to the charity.
