DigitalMe Takes to the Floor at MozFest to Encourage Young People to Share Digital Leader Skills
(PRWEB) October 24, 2013 -- The DigitalMe team will be co-curating the Open Badges floor at MozFest, which will include leading session to instruct participants on the badging process, as well as sharing their experiences of designing and awarding badges as part of Badge the UK, a new national initiative supported by Nominet Trust.
Digital leaders will also support participants and organisations throughout the 3-day festival to create their own badges using the new badge design and issuing tools available for schools, learning organisations and employers through DigitalMe and partners, Makewaves.
Tim Riches, CEO of DigitalMe, said: “MozFest brings together webmakers, educators and innovators from around the world who all share Mozilla’s aim to make the web more open and encourage people to become webmakers, not just consumers. It's a really fun, collaborative event and this year open badges will be high on the agenda across the festival and we’re delighted to be involved.”
The new Digital Leaders scheme gives pupils who are passionate about technology the chance to be leaders and make a difference in their school.
Tim Riches continued: “This is a brilliant opportunity for Digital Leaders to talk to people about their roles in school, show off their skills, get hands on experience, earn Digital Leader badges and have the chance to participate in some of the brilliant sessions MozFest has to offer.”
Earlier this year, DigitalMe launched the Badge the UK in partnership with Mozilla, which is an initiative designed to support young people in successfully making the transition between schools and employment.
Erin Knight, Senior Director of Learning and Badges at Mozilla, said: "We are thrilled to have the Digital Leaders participate in the Mozilla Festival this year as they will play a pivotal role in helping create and issue open badges throughout the entire festival.
