Dinner Train Highlights West Virginia’s Sweet Offerings Just in Time for Valentines Day
Petersburg, W.Va. (PRWEB) January 27, 2014 -- The Grant County Convention and Visitors Bureau announces the 2014 Valentine Express Dinner Train, rolling through Petersburg, W.Va. on Feb. 15, 2014. The annual dinner train highlights some of West Virginia’s sweetest offerings just in time for Valentines Day, including West Virginia-made food and wine along with breathtaking views of the Potomac Highlands of Grant County.
“The Valentine Dinner Train highlights what we all love about West Virginia: Our history and culture, which is on showcase at the South Side Depot; the entrepreneurship of great West Virginians; and our greatest asset, the natural beauty of our land,” says Executive Director of the Grant County and Convention and Visitors Bureau, Hanna Weaver. “The Valentine Express Dinner Train does a beautiful job of highlighting all these elements that make our State so special.”
Festivities begin at the historic South Side Depot where guest will have the chance to mix and mingle during a West Virginia food and wine tasting from 2 to 4 p.m. A variety of wines from Lamberts Vintage Wines of Weston, W.Va. and West-Whitehill Wines of Moorefield, W.Va. will be offered. Other popular West Virginia food products, such as Blue Smoke Salsa and Chips, hot pepper jelly and blue cheese and bacon dip will available for sampling.
Passengers will begin boarding the 1950s refurbished Amtrak train at 4 p.m., with a departure time of 4:30 p.m. The train will wind through Grant County along the South Branch of the Potomac River, traveling from Petersburg to Moorefield and back, revealing breathtaking views the West Virginia countryside.
A three-course Italian dinner featuring West Virginia-made food and products will be served upon departure. The menu includes salad, served with the famous Wilted Lettuce Dressing, produced by Appalachian Mountain Specialty Foods in Sandyville, W.Va..; specialty spaghetti, with a choice of marinara or alfredo sauce; and a dessert choice of homemade fudge chocolate turtle cake, cannoli with fudge sauce, or cheesecake, all served with a West Virginia-made chocolate.
Tickets are $60 per person and include the three-course Italian meal, train ticket and a complimentary West Virginia wine and food tasting. Adults only, please.
