Direct Focus Online Partners with UFC Fighter Phillipe Nover for His Homecoming
Manila, PH (PRWEB) May 17, 2015 -- Direct Focus Online is proud to sponsor Phillipe “The Filipino Assassin” Nover (10-5-1), who will make his long awaited return back to the UFC this Saturday May 16, 2015 at Mall of Asia Arena in Manila versus hard hitting Korean fighter Yui Chul “The Korean Bulldozer” Nam (18-4-1). Nover will have a tough test as Nam has competing for many regional organizations throughout Asia including M-1 Global, Legend Fighting Championship and ROAD FC amassing a 17-4-1 MMA record before signing with the UFC in December of 2013.
Nover will have the home country crowd behind him at UFC Fight Night Manila as he was born into a Filipino and American family with ties to the Philippines where they still maintain a home in Quezon City. Nover was born and raised in Brooklyn and from an early age and began training martial arts at the age of 10. He has trained with Sifu Ralph Mitchell at Universal Defense Systems with experience in Filipino Arnis, Muay Thai, Kick Boxing, Kung-Fu, Judo, Jeet Kun Do and Savate. Nover also holds a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Alexander "Soca" Freitas. He currently trains with the Renzo Gracie team, Church St Boxing and is now part of Frankie Edgar and his team. Nover and Frankie Edgar have been sparring partners and will fight on the same card this Saturday night in Manila.
Nover gained national attention as the “fighting Nurse” when he was on Season 8 of the The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir. During his time on TUF Phillipe beat Joe Duarte, Dave Kaplan and George Roop on his way to the finals where Phillipe lost in the Ultimate Finale to Efrain Escudero. Since the TUF reality show Nover has fought in the UFC, Bellator Fighting Championships and has even won the Ring of Combat Lightweight championship.
Nover is making his return to the UFC in his home country and Direct Focus Online is happy to sponsor Phillipe Nover in one of the biggest fights of his career.
