DOC Construction Commissioned to construct San Bernardino location of Mommie Helen’s Bakery

With 18 years of experience participating as Project Manager on projects with Riverside Community Hospital, American Career College, and University of Phoenix in locations across Southern California, from Temecula to San Bernardino, Ontario, Pasadena, and Culver City, Derrick Caddell is no stranger to challenges and is looking forward to completing the San Bernardino location of Mommie Helen’s Bakery as his firm completed their previous Colton, CA Mommie Helen’s Bakery location.
The relationship with Mommie Helen’s Bakery’s owners was fostered by mutual respect and camaraderie between Derrick O. Caddell’s father, Oliver Caddell and Bobby Rose, Dorothy Rose’s husband of 42 years. It was Oliver Caddell that originally attained a Contractor’s license and taught his sons the business. Following in his father’s footsteps in 2008, Derrick O. Caddell started DOC Construction with the desire to build quality work at fair, honest, and reasonable prices.
The new Mommie Helen’s Bakery location is situated in a strip mall located on South E Street in San Bernardino, CA next door to Fed Ex, and across the parking lot from Frazee Paint. Tenant Improvements construction has been underway on the 6,900 SF structure with early emphasis on the kitchen, as Grand Opening is set for this Saturday, 05/23/2015.
With celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Magic Johnson, and Shaquille O’Neal singing the bakery’s praises in national publications, one tends to question why we haven’t heard more about DOC Construction before. Derrick O. Caddell shakes his head, and almost whispers, “It’s been about the work…. good, quality work, and we’ve built our reputation on word of mouth referrals.”
“I selected DOC Construction because they did a very good job with our Colton location and I know they will get the job done, and will do it right. I also like supporting another family business,” stated Bobby Rose who is also participating in the construction work of Mommie Helen’s Bakery. “We are adding the element of a restaurant at the front of the bakery, and are consulting Max Niane about the menu and the possibilities for that, so the selection of the General Contractor was very important. We are also excited as Max Niane has worked with and assisted chefs in the span of his career and has also worked with us for years,” Bobby Rose added.
With projected growth of business in San Bernardino, the city of San Bernardino has been very supportive. Everyone has been anticipating the Bakery’s completion, and the bakery’s phone has been ringing almost nonstop. Interviews have been scheduled, as well as participation in the upcoming events with Vendors at the locations of the Farmers Markets, Baldwin Hills, Carson Mall, Tom’s Farms, and the Mr. Yu restaurant chain just to name a few.
“With everything going on, we are working around the clock to get the project done. We are honored that Mommie Helen’s Bakery has such trust in our commitment to this project. We are completing the construction, layout, walls, painting, plumbing, drywall, and tenant improvements. The construction team consists of John Brutus, myself (Derrick O. Caddell), Oliver Caddell (my dad), and Deborah Johnston-Caddell (my wife). We will also consult with our daughter, Shante’ Caddell for Interior Design. We are excited to once again be chosen to be a part of Mommie Helen’s Bakery’s dynamic progress,” shared Derrick Caddell.
