DocbookMD Breaks Outdated Technology Barriers to Power Physician Performance
Austin, TX (PRWEB) February 25, 2014 -- Addressing one of the most frequent complaints physicians have today, DocbookMD, a physician-owned mobile health technology company based in Austin, Texas announced it has integrated several new critical communication technologies to enable physicians to see more patients by utilizing their mobile device of choice and spending less time on outdated technology.
DocbookMD pioneered mobile, HIPAA-secure critical communication technology utilizing smartphones and tablets for physicians and hospitals. Its HL7 interface and standard RESTful API now enable healthcare partners such as radiology, lab and answering service providers to send critical results to physicians and designated medical staff securely and efficiently in one place.
“Gone are the days when a physician should be tied to a desktop when waiting for critical results,” says Dr. Tim Gueramy, CEO and Co-Founder of DocbookMD. “DocbookMD allows physicians to work with patients while still receiving urgent radiology and lab reports the instant they are ready, directly on their mobile device.”
In October of last year DocbookMD launched new integration with Austin-based radiology provider, Austin Radiological Association, to accelerate the time between an initial patient consult and actual treatment. “Immediate communication between physicians and radiology leads to better patient care,” says Dr. Andrew Reifsnyder, Chief of Radiology at University Medical Center Brackenridge. By integrating radiology providers like ARA, DocbookMD completely eliminates the need for physicians to interrupt their work with patients in order to check on the status of an X-ray order.
Last month DocbookMD partnered with MAP Communications, a national call center provider that supports thousands of medical groups and hospitals throughout the United States, allowing physicians and medical staff to receive critical messages securely to their mobile device. Coming soon, DocbookMD’s new integration will enable hospitals to send discharge summaries directly to primary care physicians to help them learn about any procedures, medication changes and diagnoses attributable to their patients during a recent hospitalization.
“Our objective is to connect DocbookMD to strategic partners so that physicians have a solution to receive all their critical communications in one place from wherever they are,” says Gueramy. “Whether they are waiting on a STAT X-ray, a lab report or just need to know when a patient was discharged so they can schedule an immediate follow-up, our hope is to help physicians work smarter, prevent costly hospital readmissions and lower healthcare costs for hospitals and groups.”
