Doctor in NYC Develops Technique for Scarless Breast Reconstruction
NEW YORK (PRWEB) February 28, 2018 -- A conventional mastectomy incision results in a long transverse scar across the breast which is conspicuous. The new technique limits skin incisions to the perimeter of the areola. Breast tissue is replaced with abdominal fat, such as with the Deep Inferior Epigastric Artery Perforator (DIEP) flap through the process of microsurgery. In a subsequent surgical stage the nipple is reconstructed and tattooed. The nipple tattoo covers all scars resulting in a natural appearing breast without visible scars.
So far ten patients have been treated with the technique which consistently yields high quality results, which match or even surpass the aesthetics of the original breast.
