Doctor: Weight Gain May Not Be Your Fault
Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) June 11, 2014 -- The American Medical Association first classified obesity as a disease in June 2013. Now nearly a year later, one physician asserts that not enough is being done to combat the disease that now leaves two-thirds of adults and one-third of American kids overweight or obese, according to The New York Times.
Dr. Ashworth contends that a paradigm shift in the treatment of obesity is long overdue —a shift from the reactionary mentality of the current medical environment to a proactive, cure-driven focus on the conditions associated with obesity.

“Medicine is always evolving, and being critiqued and or corrected is part and parcel of advancing the practice of medicine. Instead of simply writing a book about how to eat differently and exercise to lose weight, I focus on a shift to a more medically based answer to weight gain and weight reduction. A shift that will not only make dropping the weight easier, but permanent,” Dr. Ashworth said.
About the author
Dr. Lance Dean Ashworth graduated from medical school at Midwestern University's Arizona campus. He has practiced Weight Management Medicine for well over a decade, as well as Cosmetic Surgery and Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy. He is also an adjunct professor at Grand Canyon Universities' College of Arts and Sciences. He and his wife, Yvette, live in Arizona with their four children.
