Doctors Paul Maloof and Drew Dahlgren Join List of Presenters at Upcoming Richmond Endurance Symposium and Expo
Gloucester, Va. (PRWEB) November 21, 2014 -- Tidewater Physical Therapy and its Tidewater Performance Centers are pleased to announce that Drs. Paul Maloof and Drew Dahlgren have joined the list of presenters at the 2nd Annual Richmond Endurance Athlete Symposium to be held Jan. 24, 2015.
Dr. Maloof, an Orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in comprehensive complex foot and ankle care, and Dr. Dahlgren, a practicing Sports Medicine Physician, join a seasoned list of fellow keynote speakers, including Hunter Allen, a top expert in coaching endurance athletes using power meters and former professional cyclist; Andy Potts, who competed on the US Olympic Triathlon Team in 2004 and finished the 2006 season ranked third in the world; Bob Seebohar, a nationally recognized High Performance Triathlon Coach who currently consults as a sport dietician for the US Sailing and the USA Triathlon National Teams; and Christian Vande Velde, a retired American professional road and track racing cyclist and two time Olympian who competed for the US Postal team.
The full line-up of speakers will begin at 9 a.m. and present 30 to 60 minute educational and inspirational addresses to the expected 500 attendees.
The cost to attend the event, which includes lunch, is $30 for students, $45 for military members, $75 for USA Triathlon (USAT) Coaches and $50 for adults. Prices increase on January 10, 2015.
Five Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credits are available for USAT Coaches who attend. Type II CEUs are available for physical therapists who attend. Certificate of Attendance will be available.
Proceeds from this event will benefit The Richmond 2015 Project and The Brain Injury Association of Virginia (BIAV).
ABOUT DR. PAUL MALOOF:
Dr. Maloof of Tidewater Orthopaedics, began studying at Tuft University as an undergraduate before attending New Jersey Medical School for medical school and his residency, where he served as Administrative Chief Resident in one of the busiest Level One trauma centers on the East Coast.
He completed his fellowship training in Foot and Ankle Surgery at Duke University, and now brings many cutting edge treatments to the Hampton Roads, Va. Dr. Maloof’s presentation is entitled “Foot and Ankle Injuries in the Endurance Athlete.”
ABOUT DR. DREW DAHLGREN:
Dr. Dahlgren completed his undergraduate training at Michigan State University, then attended Wayne State University School of Medicine. He went on to complete his internship and residency in Family Medicine at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. He also completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Dahlgren works with patients of all ages, helping them to remain active and to overcome both acute and chronic issues that could hinder their staying active, which he credits as his passion. He travels with USA Swimming as a National Team Physician and has recently served as the Head Team Physician for the FINA Open Water Championships in Setubal, Portugal.
In the past, Dr. Dahlgren has worked with USA Triathlon in a similar capacity and he trains and competes in local triathlons and road races as time permits. He is a level 1 USA Triathlon coach as well as a Youth and Junior Coach, and currently, is a team physician for the University of Richmond and several local high school and club teams.
He currently works as a Sports Medicine physician, where he practices with OrthoVirginia in Richmond, Va. Dr. Dahlgren will be presenting “RUNNER’S KNEE, JUMPER’S KNEE AND OTHER KNEE MALADIES, IT’S NOT ALWAYS ABOUT THE KNEE” at the Symposium and Expo.
ABOUT CHRISTIAN VANDE VELDE:
Cyclist Vande Velde has experienced worldwide success throughout his cycling career. After winning five national track championships and the World Cup overall in the Individual Pursuit in 1997, Vande Velde became a professional cyclist in 1998. He is an American professional road-racing cyclist and two-time Olympian, who also took first place over all in the 2006 Tour of Luxembourg and road for the USPS Team in 1999 and 2001. Now retired, Vande Velde is an analyst for NBC cycling.
ABOUT HUNTER ALLEN:

ABOUT ANDY POTTS:
Andy Potts has established himself as one of the most versatile triathletes in the world. As a swimmer, Potts earned a spot on the USA National Team and highlighted his career at the 1996 Olympic Trials with a fourth place finish in the 400 IM. While at the University of Michigan, Potts ran track and later found a niche in triathlons becoming the 2003 USAT Rookie of the Year. In 2004 he was a member of the US Olympic Team competing in the Triathlon, winner of the 2005 World Cup and finished the 2006 season ranked 3rd in the world.
In 2007, Potts blew up the triathlon scene by winning the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro and followed that impressive performance by winning the Ironman 70.3 World Championship. Consequently, Potts was named USA Triathlon’s non-drafting and draft legal Triathlete of the Year as well as Triathlete Magazine’s All-Round Triathlete of the Year. In his 2008 Ironman debut, he finished seventh at the Ironman World Championships. He has since added Ironman Champion to his accolades, in addition to being a six-time winner of the Annual Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon.
ABOUT BOB SEEBOHAR, MS, RD, CSSD, CSCS, METS:
With a bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science and master’s degrees in Health and Exercise Science and Food Science and Human Nutrition, Seebohar is a registered dietitian, exercise physiologist, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a High Performance Triathlon Coach specializing in enhancing health and performance by improving metabolic efficiency and using nutrition periodization.
Having worked with a variety of athletes from sports as diverse as triathlon to tae kwon do, and of all ages and abilities including high school/junior, recreationally active adults, professional athletes and Olympians, Seebohar has no limits.
Currently consulting as a sport dietitian for US Sailing (Olympic and Paralympic sailors) and the USA Triathlon National Team. He is one of the very few Sport Dietitians in the country who specializes in working with young athletes.
Seebohar has competed in many endurance events including the Boston Marathon, six Ironman races, the Leadville 100 mile trail race, the Leadville 100 mile mountain bike race and in 2009, Bob became a Leadman, completing all six of the Leadville endurance events in 7 weeks. As a USA Triathlon All-American, he currently specializes in short course triathlon competition and cyclocross racing.
