DocuCopies.com Launches Book-Simulation PDF Viewer for Book Printing Jobs

This month, the online color printing company announces a giant step to combat unexpected surprises when printing jobs end up in their customers' hands.
Their new book-simulation preview feature lets customers see how their jobs will actually look when printed, bound and finished. This is particularly useful for books and booklets where little oversights like printing a cover single-sided instead of double-sided can throw off the orientation of all the pages after it.
Using this feature customers can see their simulated book sitting on a wooden desk. Using their mouses they can click to "flip" through the pages and see which ones will be on the left, which will be on the right, how much margin space they have and more.
"Viewing a PDF preview the old way doesn't have the same effect as an actual hard-copy simulation," says Jeff Corbo, the company's vice president and marketing director. "This aims to accomplish many of the same things that a hard copy proof would but at no additional cost."
Because this is not an automated function, customers must specifically request to see this kind of preview in the notes for their job. It is recommended only for books, booklets and multi-sheet copy jobs.
For customers designing their own files, DocuCopies also recently posted downloadable bleed templates for their most common document sizes. Bleeds are where the file is printing on a slightly larger paper and then trimmed down to remove the white borders so the finish product has edge-to-edge printing.
