Dogs and Cats Rejoice - JFK Airport Opens First Full-Service Veterinary Hospital
Tinton Falls, NJ (PRWEB) June 08, 2017 -- Travel and life at JFK Airport just got a little healthier for Fido and his furry friends. Today, Compassion-First Pet Hospitals announced the opening of AirHeart Pet Hospital, the first-ever full-service airport veterinary hospital, at JFK. AirHeart Pet Hospital is located at 78A N. Boundary Road, Jamaica, New York, and lives inside The ARK, the world’s first privately owned, 24-hour animal terminal and airport quarantine center at JFK. The new hospital will provide critical medical care to pets traveling through and living around the airport. AirHeart will provide primary and urgent care and eventually will add 24-hour emergency services to pet owners.
Inspired by aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart, AirHeart Pet Hospital will serve the veterinary medical needs in an airport setting for travelers, military personnel, the employees of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, JFK Airport employees and area residents.
“With more than two million pets and other live animals being transported annually in the U.S., veterinary medical care is critically needed,” says Lauren Jordon, DVM at AirHeart Pet Hospital. “Because of our location, we will face some of the most interesting medical challenges, so we have ensured our state-of-the-art facility and the professional staff are fully equipped to meet any issue that comes our way.”
AirHeart Pet Hospital is staffed with five veterinarians, 13 licensed veterinary technicians and 13 veterinary assistants. The hospital features six exam rooms, two isolation wards, three patient wards, a radiology suite, a dental/special procedures suite, two operating rooms, an instrument and surgery prep area, a treatment room, pharmacy and a lab area.
The hospital will be open initially Monday through Saturday 8am–6pm and will extend hours beginning July 31 to Monday through Saturday from 8am to 12am and on Sundays from 8am to 6pm.
