Dolly Parton’s “My Tennessee Mountain Home” Lures Family on East Tennessee Adventure
Nashville, TN (PRWEB) July 29, 2014 -- Entertainment legend and native Tennessean Dolly Parton helps shine the spotlight on her home state by appearing in an original video created by the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development. The clip features an exclusive, acoustic performance – just Dolly and her guitar – singing her heartwarming song “My Tennessee Mountain Home.”
The video, created to promote the state’s authentic music, scenic beauty and family attractions, will be highlighted on bleubirdblog.com, a popular blog written by (Ms.) James McCoy of Nashville. The three-minute clip is a key asset in the department’s new “Made in Tennessee” branding campaign.
“My Tennessee Mountain Home” features Parton’s performance footage interspersed with images of the McCoy family making their way from their home in Nashville to vacation in East Tennessee. The authentic storyline begins as the music of East Tennessee’s songbird beckons and the family answers by hitting the road and experiencing some of Tennessee’s most iconic sites, including Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Ripley’s Aquarium, and of course, Dollywood.

"We are so honored to have Dolly Parton as one of Tennessee's international ambassadors,” Tennessee Department of Tourist Development Commissioner Susan Whitaker said. “This rendition of Dolly’s song, ‘My Tennessee Mountain Home,’ is a perfect reflection of the natural beauty and spectacular music that makes Tennessee such a wonderful place to visit."
Whitaker adds TDTD’s partnership with bleubirdblog.com and incorporating the McCoy family into the campaign has enabled Tennessee to better engage with mothers of school-age children, who make the majority of family travel decisions, through digital and social media.
Tennessee’s new creative campaign was built from the ground up in Tennessee with agency VML’s expertise and tourism industry input and buy-in through Governor Bill Haslam’s appointed Tourism Committee.
The McCoy Family is also featured in Tennessee Tourism’s “Made in Tennessee” advertising campaign in a 30-second commercial entitled “Family.” The goal of the campaign is to build awareness and inspire travelers interested in a memorable vacation that can only be “Made in Tennessee.”
