Dolphin WaterCare's New InfoGraphic Reveals the Hidden Potential for Significant Water Savings with Sustainable Cooling Water Treatment
Middletown, Connecticut (PRWEB) November 18, 2013 -- Clearwater Systems announced today that it has released an infographic that illustrates a potential multi-billion gallon per day positive impact on water in the United States. The figures show how a state-of-the-art water treatment system can benefit water efficiency, pollution control and profitability at a typical commercial building.
Commercial buildings consume a tremendous amount of fresh water; in fact, the over 4.9 million commercial buildings in the United States alone use more than 10 billion gallons of fresh water every day. One third or more of commercial building water use is consumed by the building’s HVAC system.
"The global demand for potable water is far outpacing supply," stated Anupam Bhargava, CEO of Clearwater Systems. "And, when you consider the amount of fresh water consumed by commercial buildings, it reveals a significant and somewhat hidden opportunity to greatly reduce corporate water footprints with sustainable water treatment."
Sustainable water treatment eliminates the extensive use of harmful chemicals traditionally associated with legacy water treatment for cooling systems. By delivering world-class water treatment in a sustainable way, the Dolphin WaterCare system enables buildings to reduce water consumption, reuse facility discharge water, reduce pollution and realize an attractive financial return.
"Our customers have the advantage of being able to reuse cooling tower discharge water for secondary purposes such as irrigation because it is no longer contains harmful chemicals, and that saves them additional money," stated Bhargava. "We expect this trend to continue and, ultimately, represent billions of additional gallons of water saved each year; something that is simply unachievable with chemical-based water treatment."
The newly released infographic details the positive impact of sustainable water treatment on a typical commercial building in northern California. Key takeaways from the infographic include:
• 1.3 million gallons of water saved each year.
• 1.9 million gallons of water available for reuse (such as landscape irrigation).
• Elimination of the entire life-cycle of chemicals and associated hazards.
• Savings greater than $220,000 over 10 years (simple payback of 1.6 years).
