Don’t Let A Tragedy Go To Waste: Russell Redenbaugh Details His Heroic Journey From Poverty To Success In New Book
Oakland, CA (PRWEB) June 07, 2017 -- Quite simply, this might be the most incredible story you hear all year. Russell Redenbaugh not only overcame his obstacles, but he succeeded immensely because of them. Growing up in Utah, he was rendered blind and with very limited use of both hands after a homemade rocket exploded in his face. It was this tragedy that drove him to tremendous success professionally and even led him to become a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blackbelt and three time World Champion.…fighting sighted opponents.
Hollywood couldn’t make this up, and it’s all detailed in his new book Shift the Narrative: A Blind Man’s Vision for Rewriting the Stories that Limit us, due out on June 6th.
Shift the Narrative shows you how Russell used the declaration, “I’m not going to be dependent on others” as a driving force in his life. He used welfare money to get his degree from the University of Utah and through sheer will and determination, was accepted into Wharton Business School and became the first blind graduate in the history of the school. He went on to be a partner in an investment firm managing billions in assets, he founded Kairos Capital Advisors, and he was appointed to the U.S. Civil Rights Commission by Bob Dole…but it doesn’t end there.
Russell never considered himself a great athlete, but, back in his 50s, when his personal trainer suggested he try jiu-jitsu for the self-defense benefits, he gave it a try. It wasn’t long before Russell was winning local tournaments and went to the national championships in California, where he won again. The next logical step was to compete in Rio for the World Jiu-Jitsu IBJJF Championship. Not only was Russell competitive, he won three years in a row to become a three-time world jiu-jitsu champion, fighting sighted opponents.
Shift the Narrative not only tells Russell’s heroic and inspiring story, but it also teaches you how you can shift your own narrative and accomplish your goals.
Forbes Magazine founder Steve Forbes stated, “Here's a book that will jolt you of out complacency and caution and give you an exciting new sense of possibilities for your life. Like Franklin Roosevelt when felled with polio, Russell Redenbaugh didn't let the loss of sight from a teenage accident stop him from taking risks and leading a full, inspiring life. The perfect read at a time when the culture is dominated by pessimism and despair.”
"Shift the Narrative is sheer inspiration at every turn. Russell Redenbaugh’s story of overcoming physical and emotional challenges, as well as battling societal stereotypes is heartwarming,” says famed economist Dr. Arthur B. Laffer. “Readers will get many takeaways for both life and business success from this book. I highly recommend it!"
