Don't Miss One of Atlanta's Premiere Spring Events: 2014 Druid Hills Tour of Homes & Gardens and Callanwolde Artist & Pottery Market: May 2-4
Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) April 25, 2014 -- The Druid Hills Tour of Homes & Gardens will celebrate its 46th year with seven elegant homes that feature renovation, restoration, and the work of master gardeners.
In partnership with Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, 980 Briarcliff Road, the tour will also offer an Artist & Pottery Market and open the Callanwolde home to tourgoers. Stop and shop at the Artist & Pottery Market, visit the onsite coffee shop and café, and tour the 27,000-square foot Tudor Revival mansion built in 1920 for Charles Howard Candler, an heir to the Coca-Cola fortune. The market features the work of potters, photographers, jewelers, sculptors, woodworkers, painters, weavers, glassworkers, and more. In the mansion, designed by Pittsburgh architect Henry Hornbostel, highlights of the original rooms include stained glass, a Romanesque fireplace, an Aeolian pipe organ, and a Tiffany chandelier. Saved from destruction in 1971, Callanwolde exemplifies an architectural style typical of the post-World War I era with multiple façade gables and a parapet.
Please join your friends for lunch, cocktails, and dinner during Tour weekend. During the past few years, Emory Village has evolved according to plans developed between 1999 and 2007 by the Alliance to Improve Emory Village. Today, we are proud to introduce new restaurants and shops, a plaza featuring a fountain, dozens of young trees, and lots of places to sit outside and enjoy the streetscape.
