(PRWEB) June 25, 2015 -- Nancy Rankin will complete her four-year term as President of DOROT’s Board of Directors this summer. Nancy has made unique and lasting contributions to DOROT, a non-profit on the Upper West Side and has provided focus and direction. As a member of the Strategic Planning Steering Committee, she helped hone the mission statement to reflect DOROT’s primary focus of relieving social isolation among the elderly and identified six important values, Jewish communal responsibility, commitment to excellence, compassion, making a difference, integrity and innovation, to guide the organization’s work. “Nancy is personally familiar with the challenges often faced by older adults and is deeply committed to DOROT’s mission,” says Mark Meridy, DOROT’s Executive Director. “She is also an effective leader and wonderful storyteller and has a real talent for conveying her passion about DOROT’s vital work.”
Nancy has volunteered her time at DOROT for more than 25 years and, throughout that time, participated with her family in Holiday Package Delivery programs. As DOROT President, she still helps with the Deliveries and can often be seen in deep conversation with other participants, sharing her enthusiasm and listening to volunteers’ stories about their visits with package recipients.
Nancy also recognized the importance of having a vibrant board and together with the Nominating Committee successfully recruited six new board members during her tenure including President-elect Donna Jakubovitz.
“For an executive director, having a partner at the board level is critical,” says Meridy, “and Nancy has been an outstanding partner.”
For more than three decades, DOROT has been an innovative leader in the fields of aging services and volunteerism. For further information about DOROT, please call 212-769-2850.
