Double A paper recognized by Seoul City government for its tree planting campaign’s contributions to community
Seoul, South Korea (PRWEB UK) 10 March 2015 -- Double A was awarded the ‘Commendation by the Mayor of Seoul’ for its contributions to city beautification and environmental protection activities and active participation in the ‘Seoul, in Bloom’ campaign, conducted by Seoul City.
‘Seoul, in Bloom’ is an environmental improvement campaign collaborating with companies to plant and nurture foliage in unused spaces of Seoul City. Seoul government has been conducting the campaign since 2013 with the objective of responding to climate change by reducing green gas emission, providing places for citizens to rest, and spreading green culture.
‘Commendation by the Mayor of Seoul’ is an award presented to public officials, citizens, companies and organizations that contributed to revitalize city beautification by actively participating in ‘Seoul in Bloom’ campaign.
Double A held ‘Plant: Play in KHAN-NA’ campaign, a public campaign conducted jointly with Seoul City, as well as the social venture Tree Planet, to plant and nurture trees in unused spaces. Through this campaign, Double A planted 8,000 trees in 14 unused spaces of Seoul city, and provided places for citizens to relax by carrying out environmental improvement activities at these unused spaces.
A total of 20,000 citizens of Seoul have joined by submitting recommendations for and selecting unused spaces. The trees planted in these unused spaces are expected to absorb some 52 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually and 1,560 tonnes of carbon dioxide over 30 years. It is similar to the amount of carbon dioxide reduced if each Seoul citizen will not use 14 paper cups.
Mr. Thirawit Leetavorn, Senior Executive Vice President of Double A commented that “We are delighted that ‘Plant: Play in KHAN-NA’ campaign contributed to the city beautification project of Seoul City, and it is an honor to be rewarded with this commendation. Double A will continue creating new measures to maximize the value of unused spaces, in addition to tree planting.”
