Delray Beach, Florida (PRWEB) January 23, 2014 -- Delray Beach' s DDA, also known as the Downtown Development Authority, Jule Guaglardi, owner of Roxy Lulu boutique, located in the Pineapple Grove Arts District of Delray Beach, along with a string of other local volunteers, have pulled off another successful Delray Beach event. With a focus on fashion and beauty, the team pulled together more than 60 downtown Delray Beach merchants to participate in more than 40 events that spanned the week of January 11th - 19th, 2014 to celebrate the First Annual Fabulous Fashion Week.
One of the main goals of the DDA is to market and promote the downtown businesses driving economic growth and what a fantastic way to do it! “We are very proud to have the opportunity to share with the local residents and visitors to Delray Beach, the unique mix of downtown retail fashion that is now here, from ball gowns, and local designers, to shoes and accessories, all within a 12 block radius,” says Marjorie Ferrer, Executive Director, DDA.
The festivities kicked off with 20 beautiful models in two piece bikini’s from many of the area’s resort wear stores, strutting the sidewalks in the center of Downtown Delray Beach on a bustling Saturday night, to promote the beginning of Fabulous Fashion Week in 2014! “We wanted to create a splash of excitement and buzz that Fashion Week had begun and at the same time, share with the customers the schedule of the weeks happenings,” expresses, Laura Simon, Associate Director, DDA.
The activities of the week consisted of scheduled trunk shows, "meet the designer gatherings", "model for a day" events, beauty makeovers, anti-aging seminars with top national doctors. High-fashion evening events were set up in various stylish locations throughout the downtown from the beach to Pineapple Grove, showcasing swimwear, menswear, resort wear, ready-to-wear, along with evening wear and accessories creating many memorable activities that drew in thousands of visitors to the area.
The week’s signature event was the 2nd Annual Fabulous Fashion Show, which raised $1,500 for the Dress for Success of the Palm Beaches organization. The show took place on the famed Atlantic Avenue in front of the Historic Colony Hotel, illustrating the truly wide variety and diversity of gorgeous seaside apparel and accessories available to be purchased in downtown Delray Beach, Florida. This fabulous fashion event, emceed by Jule Guaglardi, owner and designer of Roxy Lulu Boutique, and Chris Cruz, the radio and TV personality from Y-100, showcased 150 outfits of beachwear, resort and evening wear from designers from Miami to Italy and many other destinations around the world, it also showcased local Delray designers, such as Furst, Roxy Lulu, Zen Dali, and Oh My Bod, which in addition to carrying other designer labels in their shops, they also carry their very own designs.
Delray Beach has been experiencing steady growth and expansion in luxury developments and commercial ventures during a time when the world and the United States specifically, have not fully recovered from the economic crisis of 2008. However, despite the slow movement in other regions, our charismatic and fashionable Village by the Sea is receiving both national and international acclaim through today's hottest travel programs and through first-rate newspapers, such as the New York Times.
“We are a bustling beachside town filled with creative energy, cultural diversity, kicking nightlife, serious style, a community focused on wellness and healthy living, and a city with capable, motivated individuals with a compassionate heart. Delray's Fabulous Fashion Week was an example of the wide range of talent, creativity, high style and compassion this downtown business community, and the DDA, continuously bring to the table,” states Jule Guaglardi, owner Roxy Lulu Boutique.
Additional volunteers and sponsors that helped to make Delray's First Annual Fabulous Fashion Week a success, included the Colony Hotel, Sloan’s Ice Cream, La Cigale, Solita Restaurant, Salt 7, The Sandbar, One Redline Photography, VUM Media, Delray Garden Center.
