Downtown Women's Center in Los Angeles Named as the 2015 Organizing Excellence Award Recipient
MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. (PRWEB) April 30, 2015 -- The National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) honored the Downtown Women’s Center in Los Angeles as the recipient of the Organizing Excellence Award at the NAPO2015 Annual Conference. The Organizing Excellence Award recognizes an individual or group that demonstrated outstanding values and achieved measurable results through their efforts as an organization. The award was presented to Sylvia Rosenberger, CEO of Downtown Women’s Center (DWC), on April 18, 2015.
Members from the NAPO-Los Angeles Chapter has helped DWC achieve its mission to support homeless women. They help de-clutter and reorganize storage spaces which helps their employees to be more productive and efficient. Watch their video to learn more about the DWC and how they impact their community. With over 50,000 people who are homeless in Los Angeles County each night, women are the fastest growing segment in that statistic. They have over 5,000 volunteers who donated over 25,000 hours of service last year. The mission of the Downtown Women's Center is to provide permanent supportive housing and a safe and healthy community fostering dignity, respect, and personal stability, and to advocate ending homelessness for women. It is the only organization in Los Angeles exclusively dedicated to addressing the needs of women overcoming poverty and homelessness in Skid Row.
