Boise, Idaho (PRWEB) August 20, 2013 -- Karen Bostick, creator and CEO of PetsPage.com, today announced that Dr. Carrie Breaux, DVM, MVSc, DACVO (Veterinary Ophthalmologist) is one of PetsPage.com’s newest veterinary specialist Vet Pros.
In addition to sharing valuable information to pet lovers on her Vet ProPage, Dr. Breaux will also act as a PetsPage.com media spokesperson in many areas of veterinary medicine including eye diseases in pets and the advanced techniques available in treating pet eye disorders. PetsPage.com is a social pet community whose primary mission is to increase pet owner awareness of veterinary specialty medicine, which can quite literally save pets’ lives though advanced veterinary care.
Carrie Breaux, DVM, MVSc, DACVO is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University with a BS in Biology and University of Illinois with a BS in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois in Champaign. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2001 from the University of Illinois. Dr. Breaux completed a one-year Equine Medicine & Surgery internship in Littleton, Colorado, followed by a one-year Ophthalmology internship in Denver, Colorado. She earned a Master’s Degree in Veterinary Science (MVSc) from the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Canada and completed her studies with a three-year residency in veterinary ophthalmology at the University of Saskatchewan.
Dr. Breaux is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (DACVO) – one of only 350 veterinary specialists who have met the stringent requirements to become a diplomate of the ACVO as of 2013. To become board certified, Diplomates must complete a bachelor’s degree, veterinary school, an additional 3-5 year residency as well as successfully pass rigorous examinations.

Upon completing her education, Dr. Breaux served as an assistant professor of ophthalmology at the University of Illinois for two years where she taught ophthalmology to veterinary students. Dr. Breaux volunteers her time offering free eye exams to service dogs through the ACVO/MERIAL National Service Dog Eye Exam Event. In 2013 she performed free exams for more than 40 service animals. Dr. Breaux has published numerous articles in professional veterinary journals.

Dr. Breaux is a staff Ophthalmologist at WestVet Specialty & Emergency Hospital in Boise, Idaho. She lives in Boise with her husband, three children, three horses, two dogs and a “mischievous cat.”
