Dr. Classie Hoyle Joins National Lutheran Communities & Services’ Board of Directors
Rockville, MD (PRWEB) October 31, 2016 -- Dr. Classie Hoyle, Ph.D., has been named to National Lutheran Communities & Services’ (NLCS) Board of Directors for a two-year term. Board elections took place during NLCS’ July 2016 meeting. Hoyle’s board term begins October 2016.
“Dr. Classie Hoyle brings a wealth of experience to NLCS’ Board. From her service to the City of Annapolis to her service in several other important community initiatives, she continually seeks ways to use her skills and talents to the benefit of others,” NLCS’ President & CEO Larry Bradshaw said. “We are pleased that she has joined our board and will lend her time and expertise to NLCS.”
Hoyle brings extensive experience in education and public service. She served on the Annapolis City Council as an alderwoman for 12 years, nine of which were served on the Finance Committee and three of those nine years were spent chairing the Committee. Additionally, she chaired the Housing and Human Development Committee along with the Housing and Human Welfare Committee. During her term in office, she introduced or co-sponsored 37 pieces of legislation including a Charter amendment to title Council members and a bill to require moderately priced dwelling units to be included in all new City developments.
“It is with humility that I accept this two-year appointment to serve on the NLCS Board,” Hoyle said. “I look forward to extending my public service to include care of seniors.”
Hoyle also participates in various other civic-minded boards, including YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County; Annapolis Area Ministries; A Tribute to Women of Color; Annapolis Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; the Har-Pearl Spruill Foundation and the appointment to the Maryland Commission on Women. She is an active member of Mount Olive AME Church and serves on its Community Development Corporation Board.
She holds bachelor and master’s degrees from Morgan State University and a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa.
