Kent, WA (PRWEB) February 09, 2014 -- Lake Meridian Chiropractic’s Dr. Danene Saggau doesn't have any difficulty remembering why she was originally attracted to chiropractic medicine. In some ways, it found her. "I grew up in a chiropractic family and worked in my Dad's office for four summers. I saw miracles happen every day and wanted to be able to help people like he did." But this didn't mean that chiropractic was the only healthcare profession she had considered. "I thought about being an ophthalmologist, until I spent a day with an optometrist and was bored to tears. Since I was told you have to become an optometrist before you can be an eye surgeon, I knew that wasn't the field for me."
Is professional life as a chiropractor everything Dr. Saggau thought it would be? "Being in practice is better than I imagined because there was no way for me to know when I was just starting out how personally rewarding it would be to be part of changing a person's life, seeing their hope restored, and feeling like your patients are your extended family. What has surprised me the most is how fast time has gone! I don't feel any older, yet I now find myself treating 2nd and 3rd generations of patients! It is the coolest feeling and really fun for me."
In a career filled with memorable moments, it’s difficult for Dr. Saggau to choose any one patient or any one episode. "That is such a hard one for me because there are so many great memories." Still, some stay with her over the years and come to mind quickly when she thinks about clinical highlights at Lake Meridian Chiropractic. "I'd probably have to say the ones that stick with me most are the ones that had really great outcomes that no one could have expected. For example, we treated a suicidal teen who had tried to take her life three times. After we aligned her atlas and got the terrible pressure off her brain stem, she was no longer depressed or suicidal. In fact, I hadn't seen her for about 15 years since that successful treatment when she showed up in my office again and we had a chance to catch up. She’s doing great and has a wonderful life."
While her motivation and patient-centered approach have remained the same, Dr. Danene Saggau is enthusiastic about the broader evolution she’s seen in her profession across the past 25 years. "The biggest change I see is a greater acceptance of chiropractic as a natural alternative health care treatment and the amount of research there is now to back up the amazing results we see. From a clinical point of view, the thing I’m most excited about now is the work we’re doing together with neurologists to help patients who suffer from migraines find real relief. These people have tried every drug known to man and to see the changes they experience in a short amount of time by precisely aligning their atlas is absolutely amazing and so exciting for both them and us."
