Dr. Debra Fink, a St. Louis Orthodontist, in “Top Dentists 2013” List
St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) July 03, 2013 -- Shortest Possible Orthodontic Treatment Time
“My principal goal is to complete the appropriate orthodontic treatment for each patient in the shortest possible time, while focusing on patient comfort, ” says Dr. Debra Fink, a St. Louis orthodontist.
Dr. Fink accomplishes this goal by first taking a 3D photographic scan of a patient’s teeth which is comfortable, quick and easy for the patient. The process takes about 7 minutes, it eliminates the necessity for messy orthodontic impressions and it produces a highly accurate 3D representation of the patient’s teeth on the computer, without any x-ray exposure. Using this information, Dr. Fink now creates customized braces that are precisely manufactured for each individual patient’s mouth and teeth and this allows Dr. Fink to complete orthodontic treatment for the majority of her adult patients in 12 months or less.
Invisalign Preferred Provider
Dr. Fink is a leader in the St. Louis orthodontic care community and is an Invisalign Preferred Provider. Dr. Fink has offered Invisalign in her office since the year 2000, and she uses this system to assist her in straightening teeth without braces by using clear retainers, called aligners, that can move individual teeth and are not easily seen by others. Dr. Fink is also offering a new orthodontic product, called AcceleDent, that cuts the Invisalign treatment time in half by allowing a patient to change his/her aligners every week instead of two. AcceleDent is an FDA approved bone stimulator for the mouth that requires the patient to bite on a mouthguard for 20 minutes a day while it is attached to a handsize machine that emits a pulse that speeds up bone regeneration.
Offering Many Types of Braces for Adults, Teens and Children
Dr. Fink offers a variety of orthodontic treatments for adults, teens and children that include, but are not limited to:
Insignia Braces that use a computerized system to create brackets and wires tailored to a patient’s particular, individualized teeth and mouth and thus affect the patient’s tooth movement in the most optimal way;
Tooth-Colored, Ceramic Braces which are more comfortable and visually less prominent than traditional metal braces;
Lingual Braces which use brackets that are placed on the back of the teeth and thus are hidden and “invisible” when a patient smiles; and
Traditional Metal Braces which are the most common type of braces due to their lower cost and higher durability.
Cutting Edge St. Louis Orthodontic Research
In conjunction with the Program in Physical Therapy at Washington University Medical School, Dr. Fink initiated the development of a non-invasive, efficient, inexpensive and very successful way to treat TMD (temporomandibular joint disorder) in a very conservative yet novel fashion. Using this new process, a thorough exam is performed by a specially trained physical therapist at Washington University School of Medicine and an individualized exercise program is developed for each patient, who is then educated in the causes of his/her TMD and when necessary any additional dysfunctions of the neck, shoulders and back are also addressed. Using these methods, a patient’s pain is alleviated, function is restored to the temporomandibular joint and management of the TMD is successfully transferred to the patient without any surgical procedures.
