Dr. Emily Pineda of South Texas Arthritis Care Center returns to practice after teaching an advanced seminar in musculoskeletal sonography
San Antonio TX (PRWEB) November 12, 2013 -- South Texas Arthritis Care Center lead physician Dr. Emily Pineda is back at her practice after attending a continuing education course in musculoskeletal sonography as one of only a handful of invited faculty at the MSKUS Cadaver Course in Norfolk, Va., Oct. 18 and 19.
The course was a hands-on cadaver course focusing on needle guidance of the extremities, hip and spine. Students also earned continuing education credits.
As a faculty member of MSKUS, an instructional group of medical professionals that specializes in the basic and advanced instructional education and advancement of musculoskeletal ultrasound guidance, Dr. Pineda also possess her RMSK credential. She had the opportunity to share her expertise in RMSK sonography as well as her knowledge of treating a myriad of arthritis conditions.
“It’s was an honor to be part of the invited faculty to attend the MSKUS course. Courses like the MSKUS Cadaver Course help professionals maintain field standards and reach new achievements in treating musculoskeletal conditions,” Dr. Pineda said.
The new Registered in Musculoskeletal Sonography (RMSK) credential raises the standard of musculoskeletal sonography and promotes best practices for enhanced patient safety. The certification is highly recommended for individuals in the field like sonographers, sports medicine, rheumatology, orthopedic surgeons, radiologists, and others in the medical field who deal with musculoskeletal conditions. Continuing education like the MSKUS Cadaver Course is a big part of maintaining those standards.
