Dr. Gary Richter, Holistic Veterinarian in Oakland California, Named “America’s Favorite Veterinarian”
Oakland, CA (PRWEB) September 15, 2015 -- Dr. Gary Richter, medical Director at Montclair Veterinary Hospital, Oakland, CA, has been named “America’s Favorite Veterinarian” thanks to continued support from his clients and fans of holistic medicine. The annual contest, hosted by the American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF), awards leaders in the veterinary industry this prestigious title to highlight their commitment to medical excellence.
This year’s contest received more than 175,000 votes from people around the country, more than double the amount of votes received last year.
“I am ecstatic and I am humbled to receive this honor,” said Dr. Richter. “In addition, I am very grateful for everyone’s time and effort who supported me to be included in this meaningful award.”
Dr. Richter was the only holistic veterinarian named as a finalist. Nominees were evaluated on community involvement, ethical behavior, passion for the profession, and their connections to pets and their owners before a judging committee chose 20 finalists from the 70,000 veterinarians practicing medicine in the United States. More than 500 veterinarians were nominated this year before the top 20 finalists were announced in July.
The America’s Favorite Veterinarian contest was created three years ago to celebrate the important work veterinarians do every day to preserve and protect the health and welfare of animals. The AVMF is the nation’s only veterinarian-directed animal charity and is dedicated to advancing the well-being of our pets. It’s the charitable arm of the AVMA.
“It is amazing to see the amount of work and education that goes into being “America’s Favorite Veterinarian” said Michelle Berkley, a client at Montclair Veterinary Hospital. “ For years, I have seen Dr. Richter focus on doing what is right for my pets and I am impressed with his attention to detail and his commitment to helping animals to have a very healthy life.”
